On Thursday October 28th, the TECH50 Event was organized by Hillenraad Partners. During this event the most leading technology companies in the Dutch greenhouse industry were awarded. This year’s theme was the contribution towards autonomous growing. From 292 horticulture-tech companies, Blue Radix was selected by an expert jury, as the winner in the category Data Science & AI!

On October 4th  the winners of the Greenhouse Technology Awards were announced in the show guide of the Canadian Greenhouse Conference (CGC). Crop Controller by Blue Radix was announced winner in the international category.

This was the message from Rudolf de Vetten, Chief Product Officer of Blue Radix, delivering a presentation in the XPERT Theatre at GreenTech Amsterdam on Tuesday. Rudolf also clarified the difference between data platforms and the 3 steps towards an autonomous greenhouse, with each step adding even more value.

Blue Radix and 2Grow are working together in the TKI ‘Digital Green Fingers’ project. Alongside other renowned companies, they are evaluating a wide range of sensors for added value in optimizing the greenhouse climate with algorithms. In this interview Maxime Dedecker, International Service Manager at 2Grow, discusses how he views autonomous growing. He also elaborates on the role of sensors in the greenhouse, and offers his vision for the coming years.

Pinduoduo is co-organizing the Smart Agriculture Competition with China Agricultural University and Zhejiang University, with technical guidance from the FAO and Wageningen University and Research. The competition will run from August 2021 to March 2022. Rudolf de Vetten is one of the members of the judging panel and tells what he’s is looking forward to see from the teams.

Getting the best from your crop and greenhouse will increasingly become a computer responsibility. We need to make better decisions. Artificial Intelligence can help us with this. But what skills are needed to work in AI tech? And what does the future of working with AI look like? Bram van Rens is Principal Data Strategist at Blue Radix. In this interview he explains what data science is and how he applies it. He also reveals its added value for greenhouse horticulture, not just in autonomous growing, but also looking ahead to future data science developments in the greenhouse industry.

To be able to scale up fast Rising Farms in Mexico will start working with autonomous growing by Blue Radix on their new location ‘Rising Park 1’. That location will house 47 hectares of high-tech greenhouses when all stages are completed.
