In 2021, Blue Radix’s product development team delivered Crop Controller, the market’s first commercial solution for autonomous growing. The team continues to build and work on more modules to further expand autonomous growing with Crop Controller. Here Peter Goudswaard, Product Developer, and Csaba Balla-Somogyi, a graduate student at Blue Radix and MSc student at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), tell the story. Peter explains the challenges in developing the new irrigation module, while Csaba describes his related graduation project at Blue Radix.

He announced that Blue Radix is officially nominated for the Horticultural Entrepreneur Award 2022: namely the Theme award Robotization and Data-Driven Horticulture. Blue Radix was a project leader of the TKI project ‘The road to digital green fingers’ over the past two years. The project has developed an integrated measurement system for monitoring crop responses in real time, aiming to support growers’ green fingers with smart, digital crop measurements. On Thursday October 28th, the TECH50 Event was organized by Hillenraad Partners. During this event the most leading technology companies in the Dutch greenhouse industry were awarded. This year’s theme was the contribution towards autonomous growing. From 292 horticulture-tech companies, Blue Radix was selected by an expert jury, as the winner in the category Data Science & AI!
On October 4th the winners of the Greenhouse Technology Awards were announced in the show guide of the Canadian Greenhouse Conference (CGC). Crop Controller by Blue Radix was announced winner in the international category.
