In Greenhouses Magazine | “AI-powered automated decision-making plays a key part in our success”

In Greenhouses Magazine recently interviewed Pete Neufeld, Operations Manager at Vine Fresh Acres and Lebo Farms in Ontario. He talks about LED lighting, climate challenges, water shortages and AI-powered autonomous climate & irrigation control with Crop Controller.

“A grower can’t possibly change the setpoints to keep pace with the constant changes in the weather,” says Pete. “It gives us confidence to know that Crop Controller is always watching the screen and acting on what it sees.”

More than 30% yield increase

The results are visible. Based on extrapolated figures for the whole year, English cucumber yields have gone from around 270 to a potential 360 pieces per square metre, an increase of more than 30%. “I strongly believe that Crop Controller plays a part in that success.” The team is now also trialling our autonomous irrigation module, to reduce water input and improve overall performance.
